Broken Chain

Broken Chain (GB 14 mins 2008) is a video art collaboration with writer Mark Norfolk for the City Speaks project commissioned by Film London/British Broadcasting Corporation.

Bert leaves jail with resolutions to keep off the drugs. However when he returns to his home he realises that his son is still angry with him and he still is tempted by his addiction.

The film uses  the Caribbean myth of La Diablesse. A women who appears beautiful, men chase her trying to seduce her. However when she reveals her face to them, they die.

La Diablesse is the drug, the Dragon that Bert chases. He get’s a hit and then betrays his son as he sinks back into his drug habits.
